Joker

5 Year old Male / Available at the Rescue

Joker is 5 years old, weighs 24 pounds, and was relinquished when his previous owner needed to care for a sick family member and could no longer give him the time he needed. It was a major change for a dog who becomes deeply attached to his people, but Joker has remained gentle and loving through it all.

He can be shy when he first meets someone, so don’t expect him to walk into the room and immediately begin campaigning for your affection. Give him a little time to observe, make sure you’re trustworthy, and confirm that you may possibly have snacks. Then the real Joker starts to emerge.

He is sweet, playful, and happiest when he can run around for a while before cuddling up beside his person. He loves people, gets along well with other dogs, and would strongly prefer to be included in whatever everyone else is doing. Joker does have some separation anxiety, so he will do best with someone who is not gone for long stretches and can help him become more comfortable when left alone.

Joker also takes home security very seriously. He may bark a lil bit when strangers arrive, and when he feels frightened or unsure, he might serenade you with a howl. He just believes his big feelings should be shared with the entire household.

His two greatest passions are food and bones. Joker can spend hours chewing on a bone, fall asleep beside it, wake up, and immediately clock back in. The work ethic is honestly impressive.

Joker would love a patient family who appreciates a softer, slightly sensitive dog and will give him the reassurance, companionship, and time he needs to settle in. In return, you will get a sweet little shadow, a dedicated cuddle partner, an enthusiastic snack consultant, and a household security system with a built-in howl setting.
